A Day Well Spent – Day 21

Isn’t it such a good feeling when you have a day perfectly well planned and you do everything and more according to it?? Well today was one such day for us. Today was the final construction meeting for our home. The meeting was scheduled at 2 in the afternoon with the builders. It almost takes us 45 minutes to get to the meeting location. So hubby had decided to take the whole day off as we needed to take care of some other stuffs as well. We had also excused Daughter from her school today. This is one luxury that I am going to miss once she starts kindergarten in the fall.

Anyway I got up around 7:30 in the morning later than I had anticipated and thus had to rush a little. I woke up the two sleepy heads once I was done with my shower. We left home by 9 right after we got dressed and Daughter finished her milk. It had been snowing a lot since the early morning hours, so the drive was a treacherous one especially near the hills. First we went to the social security office where we needed to take care of certain things. Generally our town office is pretty crowded but due to the inclement weather, there was no wait time. After the work was done we went to Denny’s for breakfast. The restaurant also had just a few customers probably because it was a late weekday morning. We almost felt like we were on vacation. We had pancakes/French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage with a steaming cup of coffee and Daughter had a hot chocolate. Since none of us are big on breakfast, we knew we were good till probably the evening snack 🙂 . After that sumptuous breakfast we went to Sam’s Club to do some pending grocery. After getting that done we were just looking at some of the electronic stuff when hubby spotted a sound bar speaker system which he has been researching on for quite a while. After putting in 5 minutes worth of thought we decided to take the plunge and buy it. After buying that we felt our pockets get much lighter and decided to head home before going for the meeting.

By the time we got home it was around 12:45, we quickly freshened up and I packed some juice and snacks for Daughter because these meetings can sometimes take up to 3 hours. After reaching their office, Daughter got herself busy with her DVD player and a book. And we peacefully discussed and signed off the last remaining of paperwork. It almost took 2 hours and the gentlemen there commended Daughter on being so quiet. He went on to say that she was one of the best well-behaved kids they have had there. Needless to say that it was one of the proud-mama-moments. After that we got home and hubby decided to set up the new sound system while I got some of my work done. All in all it was a day well spent.  A good break right after starting the week.
